Tim Bradley has recently developed a fetish for a training camp devoid of any audio other than two things that bring music to his ears: the rat-a-tat of his punches hitting the heavy bag and the crackling sound that permeates each time he hits the mitts of Teddy Atlas.
While training camp won?t officially start until Feb. 15 in the deserts of Palm Springs, California, Bradley is getting warmed up, according to publicist non-pareil Lee Samuels of Top Rank.
Bradley defends the World Boxing Organization welterweight title against Manny Pacquiao on April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and Samuels reports that the 32-year-old American is in training mode.
?Tim runs early in the morning,? Samuels said yesterday from Los Angeles. ?He?s in pretty good shape already.?
?No music, no cell phones in the gym when Tim and Teddy are working together,? said Samuels.
Unlike the 37-year-old Pacquiao, who loves to work with the stereo on full blast and people milling around him regardless where the training camp is, Bradley treats his buildup differently.
All his life, Bradley has camped out near his home in Palm Springs and the acquisition of Atlas has done wonders in his most recent showings.
Late last year, Bradley disposed of the durable Brandon Rios with a body shot, something Pacquiao was unable to do when he faced Rios and beat him in Macau in 2013.
