Robert Guerrero is looking forward to his welterweight battle with former RING junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia, a fight recently upgraded for the vacant WBC title. The two meet in the main event at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, Calif. on Saturday on FOX at 8:00 p.m ET/PT.
?I?m very excited to be fighting someone who is undefeated and considered one of the best fighters in boxing,? Guerrero told RingTV.com. ?These are the type of fights I dream about. I want to prove that I still have a lot to offer in this sport. I think this is going to be a fight the fans are going to remember for years to come.?
The Northern California native held his training camp in his home region and says everything went as planned. Training close to home allowed him to spend Christmas Day with his wife and children before returning to camp.
As always Guerrero (33-3-1, 18 knockouts) is respectful of his opponent?s abilities.
?Danny is a very strong fighter who can punch with both hands,? said the 32-year-old southpaw. ?He does everything extremely well. His experience at 147 pounds is the only thing he is lacking. There is no doubt about it; he is one of the best fighters in the world.?
Some believe ?The Ghost? has seen better days, going 2-1 since he lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in May 2013. Both his wins were tough fights against fringe contenders, Yoshihiro Kamegai and Aron Martinez. They bookend a wide points decision loss to Keith Thurman.
Guerrero, a 11/2 (+550) underdog ? with online gambling website Bet365.com ? feels he can pull the upset against Garcia (31-0, 18 KOs).

?This is not about me and Angel,? said the elder Guerrero. ?We both got our sons to the elite level of boxing and that says a lot about us as trainers. Everyone knows Angel and I like to talk but we?ve been cool so far. There?s been a mutual respect so far, so we?ll see how it goes. One thing I will say is: This is going to be a great fight for the fans. Robert is ready to shock the world.?
