CEBU, Philippines – Undefeated super bantamweight prospect ?Prince? Albert Pagara of the ALA Boxing Gym will train in the United States a month or two from now to further harness his skills in pursuit of his world championship dreams.
ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael Aldeguer said he strongly feels that the 21-year-old Pagara is ready for a world title fight and that they are just waiting for the right opportunity to come.
?Yes he (Pagara) is ready that is why he is preparing to fight and train in the US,? said Aldeguer.
Pagara just defended his WBO Intercontinental crown with a lopsided unanimous decision win over 12 rounds against Yesner Talavera of Nicaragua in the main event of the Pinoy Pride 35 last Saturday night at the Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.
In that bout though, Pagara failed to display his skills to the fullest before the fans because Talavera came only to last and not to fight.
Right after the opening bell, the Nicaraguan tapdanced his way inside the ring to the dismay of the crowd. It was clear from there that his intent was not to fight, but only to go the distance. Freeman ( Article MRec ), pagematch: 1, sectionmatch: .
?His opponent did not come to fight as he decided to run, which made it a boring fight. It?s too bad because we had a jamp acked crowd,? the dashing ALA top honcho said.
Now, a tougher challenge looms ahead for Pagara as he headlines ALA?s second Pinoy Pride event in America on July 9 at the San Mateo Events Center in San Francisco, California.
?We want a top rated opponent or a former world champ to test him on July 9,? said Aldeguer.
It will be Pagara?s second ring appearance in the boxing mecca of the world.
The pride of Maasin City scored a smashing sixth round knockout of William Gonzalez of Mexico in the breakthrough Pinoy Pride event in the US on October 17 last year at the StubHub Center in Carson City, CA.
?To fight for a world title, that is really my dream. For now, I just have to train hard so that I will be ready for whatever lies ahead of me,? said Pagara. (FREEMAN)
