Pacquiao rival also starts training for fight

At around the same time Manny Pacquiao was working with Hall of Fame Freddie Roach in General Santos City last Monday, Tim Bradley was getting ready to do the same thing with Teddy Atlas in his training camp in the deserts of Indio, California.

There was no fanfare when Bradley officially opened camp, unlike with Pacquiao, whose workout was held before a sizeable crowd.

?It was a closed camp,? Top Rank publicist Lee Samuels relayed to the Bulletin yesterday.

Seven weeks before Pacquiao and Bradley get it on for the third time on April 9 in Las Vegas, both camps have eased into training mode even though there was still room for a light moment over at Bradley?s camp when he and Atlas posed for pictures wearing firemen jumpsuits given to them by the Indio Fire Department.

But aside from that brief moment of relaxation, it was all business for Bradley and Atlas as they prepare to come up with a strategy meant to off-set the Filipino?s cat-quick reflexes and vast experience.

That?s going to be the atmosphere inside Bradley?s training headquarters for the next seven weeks as the 32-year-old Palm Springs native attempts to go 2-1 in his head-to-head with the 37-year-old Pacquiao at the MGM Grand.

Bradley won the first fight in 2012 but Pacquiao got back at him in 2014 and ringsiders believe the eight-division titlist will be too much to handle for the American.

But Bradley is banking on a crucial decision last year that has apparently worked wonders: the acquisition of Atlas.

Atlas was in his corner when Bradley put on a show of force, knocking out Brandon Rios with a single body shot late last year.
