Pacquiao urged to train in US

Training camp details haven?t been discussed but Mike Koncz said yesterday that Manny Pacquiao will have to spend the entire buildup for his comeback fight set April 9 away from the maddening scene of Philippine politics.

Pacquiao is seeking a Senate seat during the May 2016 elections and Koncz believes he can?t afford to set up camp in the Philippines.

?I will urge him not to train here (in the Philippines),? said Koncz as Team Pacquiao is finalizing the contract for his much-awaited ring return.

By the time Pacquiao starts his preparation by February, the election fever will be at its peak as national candidates like the 36-year-old Sarangani representative are given the go-signal to embark on campaign sorties.

That?s something a fighter like Pacquiao can?t afford to do, insists Koncz.

Even though the identity of his next foe remains under wraps, one of three ? Amir Khan (England), Terence Crawford (US) and Tim Bradley (US) ? will eventually be named by Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum.

While the campaign period hasn?t officially kicked off, Pacquiao has been deeply involved in politics as he has been touring places in Mindanao the last few days alongside Vice-President Jejomar Binay and fellow senatorial candidates to get themselves familiar with voters.
