While you might not agree with the way Manny Pacquiao has recently handled his business affairs outside the ring, you must acknowledge the amount of damage that he has done were it counts… in between the ropes.
Can anybody name a fighter in the past 20 years that has left such a massive trail of destruction?
Let me rephrase that, can anybody remember a guy taking on such tough competition consistently and leaving their bodies were they lay? This Filipino wrecking machine has fought what I consider to be three future hall of fame members and potentially four with Oscar Larios.
While I think the Pacman can be as dumb as a brainless rock (some rocks have brains) when it comes to making smart business moves, I still think you have to respect him as a fighter.
Somebody please inform the man that if Peyton Manning signs with the Colts, he can’t also sign with the Cowboys, the Jets, or the Lakers. He would get in what they call in America, “trouble.”
In any case, here are the 10 reasons why, even being as dumb as an ox, you must respect the man:
He took on Juan Manuel Marquez at his peak when nobody else would. As much as I liked Prince Naseem Hamed, the man openly ducked Marquez.
Pacman came from some seriously humble upbringings in the Philippines and has made it to the top on pure fighting ability. He’s all action when he laces up the leather. It’s definitely not the singing that’s for sure.
He knocked out Erik Morales in their rematch.
Manny continues to remain humble even though his stardom is at a ridiculous level.
He knocked out the great Marco Antonio Barrera.
He has personified the statement his fellow Wild Card Gym comrade James “Lights Out” Toney has stated time and time again, “I’ll fight anybody, anywhere, anytime!”
Oscar Larios was considered his “gimme” fight. Are you kidding me?
He gets his haircut by a blind, fingerless lady out of loyalty even though he can afford to go to the best barbers in the world.
The fight against Injin Chi was supposed be his other “gimme” fight. You have to be crazy in doing that.
He obliterated Erik Morales in their trilogy match.
Here’s a video that took a very, very, very long time to put together. I hope you Pac fans enjoy it and stop harassing me with death. I have enough people that hate me in real life, the last thing I need is some maniac Pac-fan stabbing me in the neck with a duck foot. Take it easy crazy people…
