Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum prefers Terence Crawford or Tim Bradley for Manny Pacquiao?s next fight for the simple reason that the Top Rank boss promotes the two candidates.
Amir Khan?
Well, Khan, also a favorite to land the Pacquiao payday set April 9 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, is represented by another group, making it a bit complicated for Arum to handle the business end of getting a deal in place.
Still, Arum insists the ball is in Pacquiao?s court and whatever decision the Filipino star comes out with he will respect.
?Manny?s going to decide. It?s going to be his call,? said Arum.
Even members of Team Pacquiao are divided over the choice of opponent for their boss, who has announced that his next bout will be his farewell fight as he will concentrate on his life as a politician if elected as senator during the May 2016 elections.
Most of the guys interviewed were caught between just two guys: Khan and Crawford.
While Bradley figured in two close fights with Pacquiao, he doesn?t seem to have the pay-per-view appeal that Khan and Crawford have that will guarantee a killing in the box-office.
Khan share a storied rivalry with Pacquiao when they were still being trained by Freddie Roach and sparring against each other.
Crawford is a man on his way up, fresh and exciting, somebody Pacquiao needs to beat to boost his career following the loss to Floyd Mayweather last May.
Arum is in a bit of a rush for Pacquiao to name his choice so he can begin drumbeating the event. (Nick Giongco)
