ASIDE from a fight with undefeated Roman Gonzalez, Donnnie Nietes could take on WBO and WBA flyweight champion Juan Francisco.
?Yes, it is a possibility just like the Roman Gonzalez fight, as long as it is at flyweight,? Nietes trainer Edito Villamor told Sun.Star Cebu.
Gonzalez and Estrada are the top two fighters in the stacked flyweight division that also include boxers like International Boxing Federation (IBF) titleholder Amnat Ruenroeng, Brian Viloria, Kazuto Ioka, Giovanni Segura, Juan Reveco and Johnriel Casimero.
?Estrada and Gonzalez are the same, they are both great champions and either would be a great match-up for Donnie. We can?t say that we have a huge chance of beating either but I believe it should be very exciting fights which boxing fans are looking for,? said Villamor of the possibility of fighting either Gonzalez or Estrada.
Nietes, the WBO and The Ring light flyweight king, has already defeated some of the elite of his division, the likes of Moises Fuentes and Francisco Rodriguez. He has defended his title eight times and was just recently elevated by the WBO as a super champion.
Nietes is set to return to the ring in the first quarter of next year in Bacolod City and could move to flyweight and challenge division?s best at the end of 2016.
?Either fight should be great. It depends on ALA Promotions and their (Estrada and Gonzalez) promoters and which one will reach a deal. If that will happen then we should study their styles and what their weaknesses are because they are not ordinary opponents,? said Villamor.
A win against either Gonzalez or Estrada should cement his already impressive status as one of the greatest fighters of boxing?s lower weight divisions.
