This will be the battlecry of Cebuano ring sensation Z “The Dream” Gorres when he challenges defending Mexican champion Fernando “Cochulito” Montiel in a 12-round rumble for the WBO super flyweight title topbilling the “Moment of Truth” card tonight at the Cebu City Sports Center.
“We’ve been working on this all our lives, it’s up to God now,” said the amiable Team ALA big boss Antonio “Bidoy” Aldeguer.
“We’ve done our part. We’re fighting for God and country. That will be our motto,” added the long-time benefactor of Gorres.
Gorres (26-1-1, 14KOs) and Montiel (32-2-1, 24KOs) both showed they are in perfect shape as they easily made the 115-pound weight limit during the official weigh-in supervised by no less than WBO president Paco Valcarcel yesterday at the Raja Park Hotel.
“This is the moment I’ve been waiting for in my life. I will do whatever it takes to win against Montiel. I’m very excited to face him and I’m ready for whatever he will bring into our fight,” said Gorres.
In the other main attraction, the undefeated Boholano ring phenomenon Rey “Boom Boom” Bautista will keep his hands busy against last minute sub Marino Gonzales Montiel for the WBO Intercontinental and WBO Youth super bantamweight crowns.
Bautista is in a must-win situation against Gonzales Montiel so as not to jeopardize his scheduled May 5 bout against Mexican Sergio Medina in the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather-Oscar de la Hoya superfight in Las Vegas.
Jimrex “The Executioner” Jaca completes the cast of the blockbuster triple championship extravaganza. The Sibulan, Negros Oriental fighter will try to snatch the WBO Asia Pacific super featherweight belt from reigning Indonesian titlist Simson “The Terminator” Butar Butar.
In the star-studded undercards, ALA rising star AJ “Bazooka” Banal will take on Thai Komrit Evereadygym, while world-rated light flyweight contender Bert Batawang will slug it out with Shopyan Effendi.
Two other unbeaten ALA mainstays in Milan Milendo and Joseph Omanz will slug it out with Alex Aroy and Markyll Taroja, respectively.
The rest of the bouts feature Weng Haya against Romnick Rapista and Bai Elorde, grandson of WBC Hall of Famer Gabriel “Flash” Elorde, who will have his baptism of fire in the pro ranks against Joseph Mateo.
