BAGO City’s Arthur Villanueva (21-1-0, 14KO) is out to redeem himself on Saturday after a heartbreaking world title loss last July to IBF super flyweight champion McJoe Arroyo of Puerto Rico.
The 26-year-old Villanueva will meet 22-year-old Victor ?Spock? Mendez for the vacant World Boxing Council (WBC) super International flyweight title in ALA Promotions and ABS-CBN’s Pinoy Pride 34: Back with a Vengeance on November 28 in Hoops Dome in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
Villanueva said that he is well-conditioned and excited to get back into the ring. ?I?ve prepared well for this fight and I?m ready for it,? he said.
Fighting for the co-main event is veteran Milan ?El Metodico? Melindo (32-2-0, 12KO), who will face 25-year-old Carlos Fontes for the World Boxing Organization (WBO) International light flyweight.
Also to be featured is ALA gym?s most promising fighter Kevin Jake Cataraja, a former gold medalist of the Alliance Boxing Association of the Philippines (Abap) and Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa).
Catajara, considered one of the few Filipino fighters who won his first fight against a foreign opponent in impressive fashion, will challenge Indonisian Faris Nenggo in the undercard.
Nenggo has defeated former WBO minimumweight champion Merlito ?Tiger? Sabillo last year.
