A few weeks ago, Floyd Mayweather, Jr. sat ringside to watch Ricky Hatton’s return to the junior welterweight division in a title winning effort over IBF champ Juan Urango.
Mayweather has said that he will retire after his May 5 showdown with Oscar De La Hoya, but now he may possibly stick around to fight Hatton before the end of 2007. One thing Mayweather will not do is travel to the UK to fight Hatton in his backyard.
In a recent interview with the BBC, Mayweather gave his thoughts on Hatton’s performance, and held little back with respect to his thoughts on Hatton as a fighter.
“Ricky Hatton ain’t nothing but a fat man. I’m going to punch him in his beer belly,” Mayweather said. “He ain’t good enough to be my sparring partner. I’m retiring in America, that don’t mean I’m retiring in the UK.”
“I’ve only seen Ricky Hatton fight one time and that was against Urango and he looked like garbage.
