CEBUANO Bruno Escalante and Filipino-American Adam Fiel have been added to the undercard of Pinoy Pride 33 ? ?Philippines vs. the World? at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Escalante, a native of Sibonga, makes his ring return following a long layoff against a yet-to-be named opponent in a six-rounder. The 26-year-old prospect fought twice last year, successfully defending his International Boxing Association (IBA) super flyweight crown against journeyman Lorenzo Trejo via a fourth round knockout and against Victor Ruiz by unanimous decision.
Escalante took the rest of the year off and most of 2015 after suffering a hand injury.
Escalante is 13-1-1 with six knockouts.
The 26-year-old Fiel, on the other hand, is up against fellow California native Michael Gaxiola in a six-round bout.
Fiel trains under the tutelage of Nonito Donaire Sr., the father and trainer of Filipino superstar Nonito Donaire Jr.
Fiel has fought twice this year and beat Manuel Romero and Jorge Silas both by decision.
The 21-year-old Gaxiola, in the meantime, won his last fight by decision over Christian Alejandro Silva. But before that he was on a three-fight losing slump.
Fiel is 6-0 with two knockouts, while Gaxiola is 4-3.
The main event features a title defense of World Boxing Organization (WBO) and The Ring lineal light flyweight king Donnie Nietes (36-1-4, 21 KOs) against Mexican Juan Alejo (21-3, 13 KOs).
