THE 21-year-old Jack Tepora knocked Egera out cold in the opening round of their scheduled 10-rounder last Saturday night at the Sabang Gym in Danao, sending Egera to his sixth straight loss.
?He was very impressive,? Omega Boxing Gym head coach Christopher ?Ping-Ping? Tepora said of his younger brother. ?For me, I think he is ready for the big fights.?
Jack improved to 15-0 with 11 knockouts, while the 30-year-old Egera dropped to 21-15 with 10 knockouts.
?We are waiting for the decision of our manager. It would be nice if he would be given a regional title fight so that he will break into the world rankings,? said Christopher.
Meanwhile, Team Joeric/Mike Boxing?s veteran boxer Rodel Wenceslao annexed the vacant PBF welterweight title at the expense of journeyman Weng Haya.
Wenceslao needed the scheduled 10 rounds to defeat the nine-year professional boxer Haya. He earned the nod of judges Salven Lagumbay and Edwin Barrientos, 98-92, for a majority decision as judge Arnie Najera saw it a 95-all fight.
The victory improved Wenceslao?s record to 10-11-1, while Haya dropped his fourth straight fight (17-9 win-loss record). Despite the PBF title win, it was a disappointing night for Team Joeric/Mike Boxing as supporter Joeric Calisang was looking for a knockout in the middle of schedule 10-rounder.
