AFTER his World Boxing Organization junior flyweight title defense in the United States, Murcia and Bacolod City pride Donnie ?Ahas? Nietes will return home on November 3.
Nietes the other day conveyed his heartfelt gratitude to all who prayed and continued to support him in his journey for pride and glory for the country.
The 33-year-old champion extended his supremacy dominating Mexican challenger Juan ?Pinky? Alejo in a 12-round championship last week at the Stub Hub Center in Carson, California.
Nietes outclassed Alejo with the well-mastered technical fighting skills to seal a unanimous decision victory, 120-108, 119-111 and 119-111.
With his successful US stint, Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Maranon Jr. and Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella lauded Nietes knowing that his victory will inspire more aspiring boxers to follow his footsteps. (HGD)
