To be held at the Dubai World Trade Center, ?Prince? Albert Pagara will defend his International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-bantamweight title against Mexico?s Jesus ?Chito? Rios while his older sibling Jason ?El Ni?o? Pagara, the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) International light welterweight champion will face off with Mexican Ramiro Alcaraz in a 10-round non-title fight, in the event dubbed, ?Duel in Dubai 2.?
Pinoy Pride, which is presented by ALA Promotions, is returning to the emirate of Dubai for the second time after a successful debut staging of the series in September last year.
?I see the Pagara brothers winning their respective fights,? said boxing analyst Dennis Principe when asked by BusinessWorld for his take on today?s marquee fights.
?However, it is not to say that it would be easy. These will be meaningful fights and Albert and Jason have to bring it on,? he added.
Albert (22-0, 15 knockouts) is coming off a victory in Pinoy Pride 30 held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in March where he beat Rodolfo Hernandez of Mexico via a fifth-round stoppage.
His fight with Rios (31-7) will be Albert?s third defense of the title he won in June last year over Hugo Partida.
Jason (35-2, 22 KOs), meanwhile, will be fighting Alcaraz (15-4, 9 KOs) after successfully defending his light welterweight belt in February this year against Mexican Cesar Chavez.
The older Pagara beat Chavez by way of technical knockout in the 1:56 mark of the second round.
?Having young champion fighters like the Pagara brothers is good for Philippine boxing,? Mr. Principe said.
?We may not see Manny Pacquiao fighting that long. Donnie Nietes may be good for two more years and so does Nonito Donaire, Jr. So having new good talents will help the sport as the people will have something to continue looking forward to,? the analyst added.
Undercards for Pinoy Pride 32 will see Jimrex Jaca of the Philippines against Pablo Lugo Montiel of Mexico; Larry Abara (Dubai) vs. Tony Arena (Indonesia); Deo Krizito (Dubai) vs. Fabethch Manopchaigym (Thailand); Lasisi Bamidele (Dubai) vs. Singnoi Singmansak (Thailand); and Nicholas Mwangi (Dubai) vs. Mohammad Akram (Syria).
