DUBAI ? Filipino boxing fans cheered as four Pinoy boxers emerged victorious over their respective opponents in the Pinoy Pride XXXII held at the Dubai World Trade Center.
Fans were delighted to see how “Prince” Albert Pagara knocked down his Mexican challenger Jesus Rios in the early minutes of first round.
“Ibang klase ang suntok ni Pagara,” said Aquilles Guimalan.
He retained his title as the IBF Inter-Continental Super Bantamweight Champion and remains undefeated in 24 fights.
“This fight proves that Albert has a place and should be welcomed on international boxing stage,” said Mark Angelo Arellano.
Abigail Ducoy added, “Nakaka-proud ang Pinoy!”
Pagara’s brother, Jayson, also won via unanimous decision when the referee stopped the fight in the 8th round due to a right eyebrow injury caused by an accidental head butt from his opponent, Ramiro Alcaraz.
Meanwhile, despite being down on the canvas on the 4th round, Jimrex “The Executioner” Jaca, managed to pick himself up and eventually win by a unanimous decision.
Another crowd favorite was newcomer and Dubai-based Filipino fighter, Larry Abarra. He hails from Subic, Zambales.
Michael Aldeguer, President and CEO of ALA Promotions, was happy with the results and inked a contract for a bout in the US.
“That’s already done deal. We’ve signed the contract. It’s gonna be on October 17. This will give Albert a shot to fight for a world title,” he stated.
