Bantamweight boxers Scott Quigg of England and Nonito Donaire of the Philippines have scored knockout wins against their respective opponents Saturday night in a dominating fashion as they look forward to a lucrative fight later this year.
Earlier on Saturday, Donaire fought Anthony Settoul of France at the Venetian Resort & Casino in Macau, China in a dominating fight that took he Filipino Flash less than two rounds complete. Donaire (34-3-0, 22 KOs) knocked down Settoul twice in the first round but he ran out of time to finish Settoul (20-4-0, 8 KOs) in the opening round. At 1:41 of the second round, Settoul’s corner threw in the towel to signal referee Danrex Tapdasan to stop the fight as Settoul struggled from a barrage of power shots from Donaire earlier in the round. It was Donaire’s second knockout win since losing to Nicholas Walters last year. Read more: With the win, Donaire can now focus on a major bout that could end up in a title fight against WBA bantamweight titlist Scott Quigg, who knocked out challenger Kiko Martinez on the same day Donaire won over Settoul. Quigg’s trainer Joe Gallagher is more interested in a Donaire fight than a title match against Carl Frampton because of his past experience in dealing with Frampton’s handlers.

That’s a very good offer and more money than some of Floyd Mayweather Jr’s opponents get,” Gallagher said “It’s all roads leading to Donaire. That’s a huge fight and a name that Quigg is crying out for,” he added. Earlier, Donaire’s promoter Bob Arum said that if both Donaire and Quigg win in their Saturday fights, ?all goes well we might do a big fight in Dubai.?
