REGARDLESS OF who Manny Pacquiao faces outside the ring ? incumbent General Santos City Mayor Pedro Acharon Jr. and South Cotabato Rep. Darlene Antonino-Custodio ? it?s going to be an uphill climb for the Filipino boxing star.
“It?s going to be tough for Manny to win on May 14,” said someone who is privy to the talks inside Team Pacquiao.
“This will be the toughest assignment Manny will face in his life. Tougher than all those Mexican legends combined.”
Pacquiao has been very vocal about his political plans as of late and even if he decides to go after the mayoralty of his hometown of GenSan, and not a Congress seat, it doesn?t follow that a win will come in handy.
“Acharon is ready to face Manny head-on and Acharon is going to be backed by the Antoninos,” said the source. “Even if Manny runs for mayor, and not for Congress, he would be up against a powerful opponent.”
