A few notes from around the boxing world:
? Junior middleweight titlist Demetrius Andrade (21-0, 14 KOs), 27, who has not fought in 13 months because of general contract unhappiness — despite co-promoters Artie Pelullo and Joe DeGuardia offering him various fights for career-high six-figure purses — is expected to finally return in late August or September. The promoters told ESPN.com they have various possible fights in the pipeline for him, although a proposed bout on Aug. 15 at the Foxwoods resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut, is not going to happen, according to Pelullo.
One of the possible bouts Pelullo said was in the works would be for Andrade to make a trip to Australia to face 40-year-old former super middleweight titlist Anthony Mundine (47-6, 27 KOs), who has been fighting at junior middleweight for the past few years. Andrade has not fought since he made his first title defense against mandatory challenger Brian Rose, whom he knocked out in the seventh round on June 14, 2014, at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
? Former unified flyweight titleholder Brian Viloria, who has won three fights in a row against low-level competition since losing his belts by split decision to Juan Francisco Estrada in April 2013, will go for his fourth win in a row on July 25. Viloria (35-4, 21 KOs) will face Mexico’s Danny Flores (13-6-1, 8 KOs) in the scheduled main event of a Top Rank “Solo Boxeo Tecate” card (UniMas) at Florentine Gardens in Hollywood, Calif. The 10-round bout is expected to be Viloria’s final fight before getting another title shot, perhaps in a rematch against Estrada (32-2, 23 KOs) later this year.
? Junior flyweight titleholder Donnie Nietes (35-1-4, 21 KOs), of the Philippines, will make the seventh defense of his 108-pound belt against former unified strawweight champion Francisco Rodriguez (17-2-1, 11 KOs), of Mexico, on Saturday in Cebu, Philippines. The fight will air on a same-day tape delay in the United States on beIN Sports Espanol at midnight ET Saturday night.
