Boxing promoters are making arrangements for potential blockbuster fights in the second half of 2015 and among the most popular are the proposed Cotto-Alvarez, Golovkin-Froch and the Mayweather- Khan fights.
Ring Magazine is currently conducting a survey among its viewers to find out the best and the biggest boxing fights that would likely happen before the end of this year. Among the possible matches that were included in the survey were the fights between Miguel Cotto vs Canelo Alvarez, Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tyson Fury, Carl Froch vs. Gennady Golovkin, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Amir Khan and Kell Brook vs. Khan . Ring Magazine asked 8,854 respondents (as of posting time today) this question: What’s the best/biggest fight to be made in second half of 2015? From these sample respondents, 5,210 or 58.84 % said it will be the Cotto-Alvarez fight followed by Froch vs Golovkin (23%), Mayweather vs Khan (7.15 %), Klitschko vs Fury (5.87 %) and Brook vs Khan (5.14 %). Among the potential fights listed in the survey, only the planned Cotto-Alvarez fight has a good chance of getting made as both fighters had shown their intention to face each other later this year. Cotto is coming off a TKO win against Daniel Geale at the Barclays Center in New York last June 6. He is also on a three-fight winning streak since losing to Austin Trout in 2012. Like Cotto, Alvarez is credited with three straight wins since losing to Mayweather in 2013. He is fresh off a KO win against James Kirkland last May 9. The proposed Mayweather-Khan fight is far from being finalized as Mayweather seems to be looking at either Andre Berto or Karim Mayfield for his Sept. 12 fight. The rest of the proposed matches covered in the survey are likewise tentative as promoters are still looking at other options for maximum financial returns.
