The other clip features Broner literally banging the gaming table as if a prostitute courtesy of a comp. Ultimately, “deuces” claimed the footage you see of Broner guzzling a cup of Patron (no not a shot, a cup) mere weeks ago while celebrating his victory at the Baccarat table in a night club. Just the other day, Broner had a little fun with a booty shaking girl dancing in the pool and literally put his face in her ass (it was crude, but hilarious actually).
This coming Saturday night in Las Vegas at MGM Grand Arena, a modern version of Jack Dempsey in the punishing former IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter, wants to leave him either face first on the canvas or on his ass for a count of 20.
If you didn’t see the final press conference yesterday, check this out courtesy of Real Combat Media. Its a wonder that he’s not aka “The Comedian”, for around the 10 minute mark of that video it gets funny as hell because of what Broner does to Porter and his dad, “Father’s Day” be damned.
At this point, “The Problem” with Broner is, his nickname is more like “The Question”, with respect to whether he’s answered enough of them since his December 2013 humiliation at the hands of Marcos Maidana.

The answer is probably no, and he may be headed for a massive loss if you judge his pre-fight antics alone (which is a litle misleading- more on that in a minute). But he weighed in today at a solid and very professional 143lbs to Porter’s taut and ready 144lbs (a relief considering all the F’ups in that department lately). Where do we start with the charismatic and ostentatious Broner?
Unfairly compared to “big brother” Floyd Mayweather, all of that changed when “Money” sat ringside in Brooklyn at the Barclay’s Center for his bout with Paulie Malignaggi. Both before and after that fight, Floyd picked him apart almost as much as Paulie did during the fight; noting his heavy legs, feet, lack of upper body mobility, flexibility, in addition to being irresponsible with his conditioning and overall dedication.
Broner, then 23, had a mini beef going with Mayweather at the time, even having the audacity to indicate that Floyd ‘could get it’ and boldly went after him after his narrow win over Malignaggi. Floyd understood that Broner wasn’t reeeeally bluffing at the table, but he could see Broner’s hand didn’t match his mouth.
Floyd would’ve torn Broner a new, let’s say, gas hole.
Floyd (who like many of us, couldn’t stop grinning over what Broner did to Porter and his dad), spared “A.B.” a rather massive ass-whooping, opting instead famously to refer to himself as ‘Mr. Miyagi’ and Broner as ‘Daniel son’.

I thought was on a path to being one of the pound-for-pound best fighters in the world at that time. Shortly thereafter, eyewitness accounts placed Broner inside a ring with rising star and future great Errol Spence Jr. (also on the PBC card against late sub and Sicilian Phil Lo Greco, whom he’ll destroy). None other than Freddie Roach was on hand to see Spence deck and spank Broner. Floyd even went so far as to advise Broner to heed the advice of his management team and not face the murderous punching Maidana.
You know what happened.
Since that debacle, Broner has found the win column in his last three fights, getting a tactical UD over Carlos Molina, a thriller over Emmanuel Taylor and a dreadfully apprehensive decision over John Molina Jr. in the debut of Premier Boxing Champions on NBC. He ran his mouth afoul with racist remarks immediately after the result, and as a result in part, he’s in there with the relentless Porter.
For Porter, if he can deal with the ridiculous 154 lb rehydration clause after a terribly flawed 5th round stoppage of late substitute Erick Bone – after being tamed by Kell Brook to lose his belt – he can become a major player again by thrashing Broner. They’ve seen each other before plenty of times in sparring some years ago now, so what will happen on June 20th?
Let’s do this.
ADRIEN BRONER VS. SHAWN PORTER

First off, let’s give some credit to Al Haymon for most likely orchestrating Broner’s public displays of affection for stupidity. He’s immature, yes, but he’s also a highly skilled professional boxer who can go 12 solid rounds at the world class level. I find it very hard to believe he was really drinking that Patron (I’m thinking Lemonade) and that his bad boy image was/is deliberately cultivated. He worked his ass off for this fight and will be a solid competitor on fight night.
He’s put to rest the whole comparison to Mayweather, for he’s hardly a Kobe Bryant to Micheal’s vintage Jordan. Though a 3 division world champion and only 25, Broner’s loss to Maidana was very thorough, and we still can’t forget how very competitive he was with a Malignaggi two years ago that he was expected to blow out.
Competitive both in and out of the ring with Paulie, over a “sidepiece” named Jessica (who was being nailed by both Broner and Malignaggi), frankly, Broner hasn’t really been the same since both Malignaggi cat fights. Because the obvious common opponent between himself and Porter is the colorful and eccentric Malignaggi, it bears noting that Paulie was swung around like Porter’s janitorial mob at the crib. If he beats Porter, convincingly at that, it should erase the stigma of Maidana and renew elite status.
But Porter’s mauling butchery of the skillfull and crafty Malignaggi over four very violent rounds remains a very bad sign. Though Broner had a hard time with Paulie in comparison, stylistically, that isn’t what really matters.
He was very reluctant to engage Molina Jr., who himself did not aggressively attack Broner the way he could have. This will not be a problem with Porter, who will do nothing but ferociously attack Broner from the opening bell. The key to this fight will be the toughness of Broner and his ability to tie up Porter while strictly boxing him as did Brook. Its logical to conclude that the 144lb contract weigh and subsequent rehydration clause capped at 154 (which is ridiculous) may impact Porter adversely down the stretch. But Broner isn’t at the same elite level of Brook and doesn’t seem to be as as tough.
Here’s why.
He’ll probably be in deep water with Porter at some point just like he was with Maidana and he’ll start having flashbacks. There was a moment late in that fight where, during a break in the action, Broner almost seemed to be laboring for a DQ. It was very telling and revealing that he didn’t like what was going on in there and was looking for a way out.
He won’t like it on Saturday night either.
Broner should have plenty of moments with Porter but its unlikely that the Cincinnati, Ohio native can really hurt the Akron, Ohio product. The same can’t be said for his fellow Ohio bredren Broner, who will be in with a fighter more relentlessly powerful. Look for Shawn Porter to overwhelm and beat up Adrien Broner to get an eventual 11th round stoppage in an action packed fight.
