A DAY after losing to Floyd Mayweather, Jr. in the “Battle for Greatness,” Filipino boxing champ Manny Pacquiao thanked his fans for always supporting him.
He also assured fans that after yesterday’s fight, he is okay.
“Sa tanan nakong mga kaigsuonan sa Cebu, sa mga Cebuano, ayaw mo kabalaka. Okay lang ko. Atong dawaton kung unsay desisyon diri kay ingon ana man gyud sila diri. Sa sunod, kung tagaan ta og higayon na mo-laban otro, atong paningkamutan nga modaog ta. Daghang salamat ug ang Ginoo makauban kaninyong tanan (To the people of Cebu and to all Cebuanos, don’t worry about me. I am okay. Let’s just accept their decision here since that’s how they are. Next time, if we’re given the chance to fight again, let’s try harder to win. Thank you and may God be with you.), he said.
Pacquiao gave a brief message to Cebuanos through former Cebu City mayor and congressman Tomas Osme?a, who watched the fight in Las Vegas and uploaded Pacquiao’s message to his Facebook page early this morning.

In the same 36-second video, which has been shared by more than 2,800 users and viewed over 140,000 times, Osme?a told the PacMan, “We all love you. All Cebuanos miss Manny and I hope you will visit us soon.”
A few hours after the video was released, Pacquiao gave his message of thanks.
“Thank you for always being there for me no matter what the outcome,” he posted on his Facebook and Instagram accounts, which have a combined following of over 10 million fans.
“I thank God for always guiding us through our lives. His plans (are) higher than our plans and His ways are higher than our ways. God bless you all,” the 36-year-old boxer added.
Pacquiao, an evangelical Christian, also shared Bible verses and uplifting words to his followers.
“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28
Mayweather won via unanimous decision in the fight dubbed as the the richest fight ever, with all three judges scoring 116-112, 116-112 and 118-110.
The post on the social networking site has already garnered more than 800,000 likes and shared by some 32,000 users as of 6 p.m. today.
One user, Lilian Rose Robles, commented with a screenshot of actor Sylvester Stallone’s post on the latter’s account on the micro-blogging site Twitter.
“Manny Pacquiao without a doubt the single, bravest and most exciting fighter to ever on lace on gloves. No one comes close. Seen them all,” the actor said.
Another user, Brandon Diaz, said, “You won the fight maybe not for the judges, but to the whole world you did.”
“You’re so humble. May god bless you more,” Jane Kov Lim commented.
