TOP Rank promoter Bob Arum said he will announce the details of Filipino ring idol Manny Pacquiao’s next fight late this week.
In an overseas telephone conversation with Viva Sports/Standard Today, Arum said: “We have made big progress, but I cannot officially announce the details because Manny is coming over and we are going to do the announcement here.”
Arum said Pacquiao was coming on Thursday and had plans to watch the title fight of Jorge Arce.
“Everything’s great,” said Arum, who added the fight will take place in Macau on April 29 Manila time.
But all indications are that the opponent will be World Boxing Council featherweight champion In Jin Chi, who regained the title last December in Seoul with a 12-round unanimous decision over Rodolfo Mendoza of Mexico.
Pacquiao’s close friend and confidant Rex “Wakee” Salud said he was not so sure that the Filipino rin icon will fly to the United States for the official announcement, but gave no reasons.
