CEBU, Philippines ? ALA Boxing Gym mainstay Melvin ‘Top Gun’ Gumban (19-0, 10KOs) will put his Philippine super flyweight title on the line against former regional champion Rene ‘Commander’ Dacquel (13-4, 5KOs) in the main event of the ALA-Cobra Energy Drink ‘Tunay na Lakas’ boxing card this Saturday night at the Super Metro grounds in Lapu-Lapu City.
Coming off a first round knockout of Wiljan Ugbaniel last January 18, Gumban is expected to face a tough test as he goes up against the the Abra-native Dacquel, who once reigned as the WBC Youth super flyweight champion.
“I want to test my skills against him (Dacquel) because I am also dreaming of being a regional champion this year,” said the 25-year-old Gumban.
In the supporting bout, another ALA fighter in Juren ‘Turbo’ Labordo (14-2, 9KOs) will slug it out with veteran slugger in Jason Canoy (22-5, 16KOs) in an eight-rounder under the flyweight division. (FREEMAN)
