CEBU, Philippines – Their first venture abroad was so successful that it richly deserves a follow-up.
ALA Promotions President and CEO Michael P. Aldeguer confirmed yesterday that their blockbuster “Pinoy Pride” boxing series will return to Dubai on Philippine Independence Day at the Dubai World Trade Center.
Aldeguer, who is currently in Dubai to put everything in place for their June 12 event, said the slambang show will be headlined by the Pagara brothers ‘Prince’ Albert and Jason ‘El Ni?o’ together with rising star Mark ‘Magnifico’ Magsayo.
Aldeguer said the decision of staging another event in Dubai is largely based on the overwhelming success of their maiden promotion in the most populous city of United Arab Emirates in September last year headlined by Pinoy boxers Genesis ‘Azukal’ Servania, ‘King’ Arthur Villanueva and Rey ‘Boom-Boom’ Bautista, all from the world-renowned ALA Gym.
“The crowd was phenomenal, never seen anything like it before. The feedback was tremendous and the public demand to do it again was overwhelming,” said Aldeguer in a text message. “ABC-CBN’s TFC Middle East, the Dubai tourism and sports council was very pleased and excited with the turnout after we met with them last Tuesday.”

For this year, Aldeguer bared that they plan to hold two promotions in the Middle East and three events in the United States.
“We plan to make the Middle East as our ground to show the world that a Philippine-based company can compete with the world’s best in putting up world-class events,” Aldeguer said. Meanwhile, Aldeguer said they will finalize in the next few days the opponents of the Pagara brothers of Maasin City, Southern Leyte as well as that of Magsayo, who hails from Tagbilaran, Bohol, in what promises to be another box-office hit in the oil-rich emirate.
Albert Pagara (23-0, 16KOs) is the current IBF International super bantamweight champion, while is older brother Jason (35-2, 22KOs) is the reigning WBO International light welterweight crown-holder. Magsayo, considered the next big thing from the ALA Stable, is undefeated in 10 fights by far, with eight wins coming by way of knockout. (FREEMAN)
