Though the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao fight scheduled for May 2 is expected to be the highest grossing boxing match in history, there’s some trouble in the background on how to split up the enormous pie. Pacquiao promoter Bob Arum is full of threats and maintains that less than four weeks from the fight no signed contract exists with host MGM Grand to cover tickets and rooms. Mayweather promoter Leonard Allerbe says Arum is just being Arum and the fight will go off. MGM Resorts (NYSE:MGM) CEO James Murren has called the event a significant Q2 revenue driver for the company. During the firm’s last earnings call, Murren predicted the fight will push RevPAR through the roof in May for MGM Grand and give the company’s other Vegas properties a boost. MGM’s sports books are also expected to set some records with interest sky-high for the welterweight championship bout. (Odds: Mayweather -210 / Pacquiao +170).
