The LA Times is reporting that tickets are expected to go on sale at the end of next week, with fewer than 1,000 tickets being available to the general public ranging from $1,500 to $10,000 a pop. Ticketmaster will handle the sale of the general public tickets and I can pretty much promise you that the checkout queue on their website will be log-jammed – so you’ll need to act fast and encounter a good bit of luck.
There are only so few tickets available to the general public for this event because the negotiations for the fight meant that the tickets were divided up between the MGM Grand, Mayweather Promotions, and Top Rank. Ticket sellers tried to get a jump start on this madness by assuming they would get allocated a certain number of tickets and began selling seats before they even had tickets in possession – which could potentially cause a big mess.
So if you’re dead set on going to the big show and aren’t able to grab one of the few tickets available to the public, be prepared to pay a king’s ransom to some ticket scalper.
