Manny Pacquiao records his own entrance song ahead of $250 million showdown with Floyd Mayweather

Manny Pacquiao has recorded his own entrance song ahead of the $250 million showdown with Floyd Mayweather on May 2 in Las Vegas.

On Thursday the Filipino fighter recorded a song ‘Lalaban Ako Para sa Pilipino’ (I Am Going to Fight for Filipinos) which was written by composer, and frequent songwriting collaborator, Lito Camo.

The lyrics run: “We are going to fight / I am going to fight to the world / Fight for your name / I am Filipino / We are Filipino”.

Pacquiao, boxing’s only eight-division champion, is no stranger to the recording studio. He released his debut album ‘Laban Nating Lahat Ito’ in 2006 under Star Records and Pac-Man Puncunder MCA Records in 2007, while his English-language debut – a cover of Dan Hill’s 1977 ballad ‘Sometimes When We Touch’ – hit the USA charts in 2011.

The Congressman for Sarangani province is scheduled to fly from the Philippines to Los Angeles on Saturday to open a training camp under Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, after a week of training which started in Manila.
