GENERAL SANTOS CITY — Two hundred boxers are seeing action in the 1st Manny Pacquiao National Amateur Boxing tournament, which opened Sunday at the Oval Plaza Covered Court.
Seeing action are young fighters from the Mandaluyong City, Iloilo, Bacolod, Zamboanga, Cebu, Malaybalay, Panabo, Camiguin Province, Davao City, Digos, North Cotabato, Tulunan, South Cotabato, Koronadal, Sarangani Province, Jose Abad Santos, Cagayan de Oro, Metro Dadiangas and host General Santos City.
“Two boxing rings will be used to finish the four-day event on Dec. 20,” said Rey Golingan, president of the organizing Amateur Boxing Association of the Phils. (Abap) GenSan Chapter.
At stake are boxing equipments worth more than P100,000.The team champion will receive a boxing equipment worth P50,000 plus a trophy, while the first runner-up will get P30,000 worth of boxing equipment and a trophy.
The second and third runners-up will earn also boxing equipments worth P20,00 and P10,000, respectively with trophies.
Medals will be awarded to the winners of the 10 different weight categories from the 32-kilogram to the 51-kilogram.
