Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia will be one of the principal sponsors at the christening Mary Divine Grace “Princess”, only daughter of Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao at the Our Lady of Peace and Good Voyage Parish Church, in General Santos City, 10:30 a.m. Sunday, a City Hall press release said.
The sponsors include top personalities in show business and politics, like Sharon Cuneta-Pangilinan, Ilocos Norte Gov. Chavit Singson, Rudy Fernandez, ABS-CBN top executive Gabby Lopez, and San Miguel Corp. president Ramon Ang.
Singson and Leonardia are the only local government officials in the list. Other sponsors are Education Secretary Jesli Lapuz, film producer Rose Flaminiano, Ali Atienza, Jayke Joson, Jeng Gacal, Salvador Dumago, Jr., Mon Dizon, actor Bayani Agbayani, Benjie Lim, Tony Antonio, Jeffrey Mangali, Emily Uy, Angelie Reyes, and Janet Jamora, the press release said.
The number of sponsors is not as many as expected, but only the few who are very close to the family were chosen.
Leonardia also received invitations recently from the Pacman to his 28th birthday and to the blessing of his multi-million house on the same date, the press release said.
During their trip back to Manila from Las Vegas after his successful fight with Erik Morales in November, Leonardia said Pacquiao promised him that he will definitely visit the city to thank Bacole?os for their support. Pacquiao said that he appreciates being adopted as a son of Bacolod.
As Bacolod’s “Adopted Son”, his visit to Bacolod last July 25 was declared “Pacquiao Day”, the press release said.*
