With Oscar De La Hoya and rival promoter Bob Arum looking to settle a legal dispute over who has promotional rights for Manny Pacquiao’s next fights, Pacquiao has pretty much remained silent. However one of the most important people in Pacquiao’s life is speaking out and is hinting where Pacquiao is heading. Pacquiao’s trainer, Freddie Roach is talking and letting out the wind’s direction, and it seems to be blowing in favor of De La Hoya and certainly not Arum.
This past Friday at a Desert Diamond fight card, south of Tucson, The Arizona Republican quoted Freddie Roach on his plans with his young superstar Fighter Pacquiao.
“Barrera is the one everybody wants to see,” Roach said. “We’ll fight Marquez after that. No problem. We’ll do both fights for sure.”
In regards to the legal problems Pacquiao is facing over and the strong possibility that it may be a very long time before Pacquiao is legally allowed to fight again, Roach added: “There’s definitely fear. Hopefully that doesn’t happen. That’s why I’m going to talk to Manny.”
