Former three division champion and future hall of famer Shane Mosley, who faced Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao in 2010 and 2011, respectively, recently offered a brief analysis and prediction on the potential Mayweather vs Pacquiao bout.
Shane, of course, lost both fights via rather wide decisions.
Although Mosley was mistakenly given credit for flooring Pacquiao, their fight lacked competitiveness and excitement, as Shane appeared to be in ‘survival’ mode most of the evening while Manny, who complained of an injury afterwards, seemed content to win on points.
Shane’s fight with Mayweather wasn’t much better sans for that legendary Round 2 where Mosley staggered and hurt ‘Money May’ several times but was unable to close the deal.
Despite his inability to mount a serious threat both times, Mosley is an all-time great who traded leather with both guys for twelve tough rounds, and is as qualified as anyone to offer a prediction. Mosley recently told Boxingscene.com he gives a slight advantage to the taller Mayweather, insisting Floyd’s speed and movement may pose problems for Pacquiao when attempting to land flush.
And while Mosley stated Mayweather didn’t have crushing power, he admitted Floyd can bang hard enough to make it hurt.
Although Shane picked Floyd, he hinted a Pacquiao win certainly wouldn’t surprise him.
