Fight fans are getting restless and impatient with Floyd Mayweather’s failure to decide whether he will take Manny Pacquiao’s challenge to face him in the ring or not as he remains tight-lipped about the fight.
What fans really want is for the unbeaten champ to say categorically that he is or isn’t accepting Pacquiao’s challenge and the reason for declining. A categorical “yes” or a “no” is what fans wants to hear from Mayweather. There is no need for him to explain his side if he is accepting Pacquiao’s challenge. Mayweather owes fight fans an explanation why he isn’t talking about the Pacquiao fight despite his public statement that he will sit down with concerned parties to resume pending talks on the fight provided that Pacquiao wins over Chris Algieri. Right after his rematch against Marcos Maidana last September, Mayweather said, ” Let him beat Algieri first, and then we’ll talk.” Pacquiao gave Algieri a boxing lesson coupled with six knockdowns en route to a convincing unanimous decision. Still, Mayweather has yet to talk about the prospect to facing Pacquiao in the ring, opting instead to use Instagram to taunt Pacquiao with his collection of insulting photos showing Pacquiao lying on the canvas unconscious stemming from his knockout loss to Juan Manuel Marquez in 2012. Fans deserve to know why he seems to have reneged on his public statement. After all they are the ones paying to see him up in the ring with his exceptional skill that he brags about by calling himself the ‘greatest boxer of all time’ and ‘the best ever.’ But fans do not know exactly what Mayweather is going through at this time. He may be up in the wonderland with his fame and fortune but he could be going through a rough time with things completely unrelated to his boxing career. On top of the the lawsuits he has been through and related cases he is still facing which had something to do with his failed relationship with former fiancees, Mayweather has just witnessed a horrifying scene that police theorized as possible murder or suicide. The incident involves his rapper friend Earl Hayes who reportedly shot and killed his wife after Mayweather told him he was being cheated The report says Hayes later shot himself to death after killing his wife. It may have been a gruesome scene that Mayweather could not believe happening right in his presence if indeed it is true that he was near the scene of the crime as it happened.
Mayweather vs Maidana in May of 2014 The Boxing Blog Like this image Authorities are hoping Mayweather could shed light on the bloody incident and had in fact invited Mayweather to say what he knows about the reported murder/suicide. “LAPD Detective Scott Masterson told The News on Tuesday that Mayweather’s lawyer had agreed to a sit-down that would take place before the boxing champ, who lives in Las Vegas, left town,” nydailynews.com writes. “If (Mayweather) was a witness over some type of call, we want to hear what he knows,” Masterson told The News Tuesday. “But the bottom line is not changing. The evidence is pretty solid that this was a murder/suicide.” In the wake of these developments, it would be prudent for fight fans to understand what Mayweather is going through at this time and give him more time to make necessary adjustments. Besides, Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum has said earlier that it would be best for everyone to give Mayweather a little more time to decide on Pacquiao’s challenge probably until the end of this month.
