Charles Bronson wants to fight Mickey Rourke. Not Charles Bronson the actor. That Charles Bronson is dead?
After his victory over a mentally ill homeless man in Moscow Saturday night, 62-year-old Mickey Rourke is basking in the attention. Most of us who saw the fight recognize it for what it was. But a handful of people were impressed, one of whom is the same age as Mickey Rourke.
That someone is Charles Bronson.
Not Charles Bronson the actor. That Charles Bronson is dead. We?re talking about Charles Bronson the prisoner, the 61-year-old convict who has spent 40 years in jail and is affectionately known as the ?most violent prisoner in Britain.?
If Rourke really wants to get his macho on, this might be his chance.
Charles Bronson is ready to rumble. He allegedly does 2,000 push-ups a day. He?s a former bare-knuckler. And his pen pal is none other than Tyson Fury.
Sounds like a match made in heaven, right?
Wrong.
Bronson, like Rourke, is a celebrity, but the reasons for their respective celebrities are as different as night and day. Nevertheless, each man has a spokesperson, and Bronson?s spokesperson said that ?Charlie was most impressed to hear about Hollywood legend Mickey Rourke?s latest fight. At 62, it?s no mean feat?especially considering the lifestyle Rourke has led. Well, Charlie has truly thrown down the gauntlet.?
Bronson has been convicted of such disparate offenses as wounding, criminal damage, false imprisonment, blackmail, and threatening to kill. In prison he has attacked fellow inmates and prison guards. To call him unruly doesn?t do him justice.
Because Bronson is persona non grata, even in prison where persona non grata is the norm, in addition to being persona non grata in society, which is why he?s locked up, his aforementioned spokesperson quoted Bronson as saying:
?Mickey, fancy taking me on? We must be about the same age [and] weight. You got a lot of heart, and bottle. But have you got enough to step in the ring with me when I get out??
Lord knows when, or if, Bronson gets out of the slammer. But whether it?s tomorrow or never, the likelihood of Mickey Rourke fighting him is zero to none.
Still, according to the Daily Express, an unnamed buddy of Bronson?s thinks a fight with Mickey Rourke is a natural.
?A fight between Charlie and Mickey would get the crowds in and they?d probably leave as pals.?
At least Bronson isn?t homeless and mentally ill.
