Bigshots line up to be Pacquiao?s kumpadre

THERE IS an ongoing rush to be named as one of the godparents of Manny Pacquiao?s soon-to-be-baptized daughter.

While the choice of godparents is always the domain of the parents, things are looking entirely different in the world of the Filipino boxing star.

Somebody who has close ties with Pacquiao told the Bulletin that well-known personalities are lining up and even “volunteering” to be named as godparent of Pacquiao?s two-month-old daughter Mary Divine Grace.

Pacquiao has two sons with wife Jinkee, Emmanuel Jr. and Michael Stephen. Mary Divine Grace was born last September during the thick of Pacquiao?s training at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood, California for the rubber match with Erik “El Terrible” Morales of Mexico.

A woman has also claimed that Pacquiao is the father of a son born from a relationship several years ago. Pacquiao has denied fatherhood.

The third Pacquiao child is scheduled to be baptized next month in time for Pacquiao?s 28th birthday and blessing of his R35-million mansion in General Santos City.

“Instead of the usual practice of being called and asked to become ninong or ninang, I have learned that some people are lining up and even volunteering to become a godparent,” said a source close to the Pacquiaos.

Among those who may be tapped by Pacquiao himself to be the godfather include former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson and Ali Atienza, son of Manila Mayor Lito Atienza.

“The list is growing,” the source said.
