On Saturday, Nov. 22, boxing fans from around the world will be be treated to an exciting, entertaining boxing fight featuring Filipino boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao and New York’s boxing sensation Chris Algieri.
The potential “Fight of the Year” will take place at the Cotai Arena of the Venetian Resort & Casino in Macau, China on Nov. 23 (local taime). The weekend fight promises to be very exciting and entertaining because both fighters move a lot, throw rapid punches and are never boring to watch in the ring. Pacquiao has always been concerned about the entertainment side of his fights. During his fight with Joshua Clottey, he was apologetic for letting his fans down as he was not able to provide the entertainment part of the match. He said there was not much he can do because Clottey refused to mix it up with him. Other the Clottey bout, most of Pacquiao’s fights were really exciting and entertaining as shown in the Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera fight series and in almost all of his four fights against Juan Manuel Marquez. Even more exciting and entertaining were his fights against Ricky Hatton, Oscar de la Hoya, Miguel Cotto and Antonio Margarito. These fights were all box office hits. In most of his major fights, boxing fans have applauded the popular Filipino boxer for giving his best in every fight regardless of the odds particularly when he faces superior fighters like the legendary de la Hoya, Hatton and Cotto, among others. For me, as a boxer, it’s a shame that he claims he’s pound-for-pound champion, that he’s undefeated, Pacquiao said. For his part, Algieri said he has yet to hear anyone that he is a boring fighter. “I box but I have never heard anyone say that I was a boring fighter or that they didn?t really like watching my style. I use a lot of the sweet science as they say but that sort of stuff is exciting to watch. I throw a lot of punches. I am an active fighter,” said Algieri, who is now on his way yo Macau, China for the final phase of his training for the Pacquiao fight. “All of my fights have been exciting, even the lopsided ones. I am not concerned about taking a conscious approach to making my style more exciting. I think I go out there and fight in the manner that works best for me getting a win and it just so happens that it?s good to watch,” Algieri added. Algieri’s recent clash with Ruslan Provodnikov, the rising New York boxing star provided the excitement and entertainment part of the fight as Provodnikov is a bit boring to watch in the ring. Indeed the upcoming Pacquiao-Algieri fight will keep fans on their toes whether they are watching live in Macau or on worldwide television.
