Pacman arrives tomorrow

A grand welcome befitting a sporting hero awaits Manny Pacquiao tomorrow when he arrives from the United States six days after he scored a sensational third round knockout victory over Mexican legend Erik Morales in the final of one of boxing?s most celebrated trilogies.

For sure, the reception will be bigger than the one accorded him after he beat Morales, also via knockout, last January and the celebration grander than any party given a returning champion in recent memory.

Pacquiao, who left for the US in September to step up his training for what he described as the most important fight of his checkered career, leaves Los Angeles Wednesday evening and will hit town early Friday morning.

The 27-year-old Gen. Santos native is expected to pay a courtesy call on President Arroyo in Malaca?ang.

From the Palace, the peoples champion will head straight to Manila City Hall for another courtesy call on Mayor Lito Atienza. The city government, in cooperation with Solar Sports, will also throw a victory party for its adopted son starting at 7 p.m. at the Raja Sulayman.
