The set is stage for Manny Pacquiao?s training camp ? penciled for seven or eight weeks ? for the Nov. 23 collision with undefeated US fighter Chris Algieri.
?Manny will camp out in General Santos City,? said Pacquiao?s adviser Mike Koncz after he received confirmation from the fighting congressman himself that he will not allow extra-curricular activities to eat up on his preparation.
Even though Algieri seems to be an easy prey, Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach is not taking the New York native for granted, saying he needs Pacquiao?s full concentration during the buildup.
Koncz said the entire buildup will take up about seven weeks and Pacquiao will report to the gym towards the end of September.
The finer details of the preparation will be discussed when all the major players of the team as well as the promotion will get together during a six-city press tour beginning this Monday in Macau.
From Macau, Pacquiao and Algieri will fly to Shanghai for a similar press conference the following day.
San Francisco is also part of the itinerary but there won?t be a media event and the traveling circus is expected there on Aug. 29.
Las Vegas will roll out the red carpet with a private function on Aug. 30 before back-to-back press conferences are held in Los Angeles on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4 in New York.
Koncz said Pacquiao will return to Manila on Sept. 6 or 7.
While Pacquiao insists that boxing remains his top priority, the 35-year-old world welterweight champion is also busy attending to his constituents in Sarangani and is heavily involved in the formation of the lineup of Kia Motors, which will make its PBA debut in October.
