NEW ORLEANS -- Anthony Davis dominated the paint like an All-Star Friday night and the New Orleans Pelicans held off the Milwaukee Bucks, 112-104, at the Smoothie King Center.
The rangy 6-foot-10 Davis, the No.1 pick in the 2012 NBA draft, collected 29 points and gathered 14 rebounds. The 20-year old center also had five dimes and two blocked shots.
Tyreke Evans also shined foe New Orleans with 25 points, seven boards and four assists. Anthony Morrow got off the bench with 16 and Brian Roberts added 14 as the Pelicans won their second straight.
Friday night's tiff was the first of the Pelicans' 6-game home stand.
It's a big win for us. Any win is a big win for us," Pelicans head coach Monty Williams said after his team improved to a modest 25-37 for the season.
Khris Middleton led Milwaukee with 25 and Jeff Adrien posted 20. The Bucks lost star guard O.J. Mayo in the first quarter due to a Flagrant foul 2 after throwing a punch at Pelicans big man Greg Stiemsma.
It was the Bucks' second consecutive loss. They dropped to 12-49 for the season. (AIJ)
