CHICAGO -- The ESPN Friday Night Fights installment went to a rousing start here at the U.S.Cellular Field, home of baseball's 2005 World Series Champions the Chicago White Sox.
The festivities opened with a women's bout featuring Chicago native Kristin Gearhart and Amanda Cooper of Fowlerville, Michigan. Gearhart, who was making her professional debut, won the battle of welterweights via four-round unanimous decision.Cooper dropped to 1-1 (1 KO) in a highly entertaining fight while Gearhart is 1-0.
In the second fight of the evening,middleweights Trinidad Garcia (5-3-2) and Ramiro Bueno (2-3-0 1 KO) fought a hard-earned draw.
The Chicago stop of Friday Night Fights features light heavyweights Andrezej Fonfara (23-2-0 13 KOs) and Gabriel Campillo (22-5-1 (9 KOs) in the main event while heavyweights Arthur Szpilka (15-0-0 11 KOs) and Mike Mollo (20-4-1 12 KOs) will tangle in the main undercard.
This event is a joint effort between 8 Count Productions and Warriors Boxing. (JZ)
