SAN JOSE -- After struggling on the road, going just 1-for-11, the Golden State Warriors has strung together two gigantic victories on the road following a 93-72 triumph over the Hornets in New Orleans on Monday night.
Coupled with the losses sustained by the Jazz and Lakers, Golden State got a cushion in the tight race for the sixth, seventh and eighth playoffs spots in the Western Conference.
Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry, looking to lead his team into the playoffs, scored 30 points on 10 of 19 shooting with six coming from behind the three-point arc. Andrew Bogut made his presence felt on the defensive end, snatching nine rebounds, four blocks and eight points. ?D? Lee added 20 points, 11 rebounds for his 45th double-double of the year.
Golden State held New Orleans to 33.7 percent from the field and forced 13 turnovers. The wins over Houston and New Orleans marked the first time in franchise history that GSW beat teams by 20 or more in a road back-to-back set
Former Cal star Ryan Anderson led the Hornets with 21 points with nine rebounds. Rookie forward Anthony Davis, the no. 1 overall pick, added 16 points with seven boards in 32 minutes.
The shorthanded Hornets played sans Eric Gordon, who isn?t playing in back-to-back games as he recovers from knee surgery.
Now the Warriors, having handled business, head to San Antonio on Wednesday with a chance to punctuate an already successful trip. The Warriors haven't beaten the Spurs, a potential first-round playoff matchup, in San Antonio since 1994. (DM)
