JETHER OLIVA, ROBERTO UDTUHAN REGISTER WINS IN DAVAO

Unbeaten American Boxing Academy (ABA) fighters Jether Oliva and Roberto Udtuhan both scored impressive victories in Davao city Saturday night.

Oliva a Light Flyweight who sports a 15-0-1 10Kos record and hails from General Santos city, made short work of Davao's hometown boy Ricky Sabia (12-5 GAB, 8-4 Boxrec). Oliva went on the attack early flooring the normally durable Sabia twice in the second round before ending things for good with a well placed shot to the mid section in round 4.

Sabia remained on the canvas well past the count of ten. Oliva, a virtual unkown outside of local boxing circles has, quickly risen in the pro ranks (WBC #38, WBO Asia #10) since joining Filipino based American manager Ken Smith's pro stable which is under the promotional banner of International promoter Sammy Gello-ani.

Udtuhan, a superflyweight from Digos city, scored his 16th straight win with an 8th round unanimous decision over a game but outclassed Arel Suco of Butuan. Udtuhan started fast, easily winning the first 3 rounds, before being surprisingly knocked down in the 4th by a body blow from the determined Suco. In round 5 the tide quickly changed back to Udtuhan's favor as he continued to pressure the Butuan fighter to the ropes, inflicting heavy damage. By the 8th and final round Udtuhan had Suco bleeding from the nose and cuts over both eyes.
