Just minutes ago, Filipino Roselito "Gwapito" Campana of the Marty Elorde Stable scored an important win in Japan, beating local boy and WBC no. 32 flyweight Hiroshi Nakano via seventh-round technical decision in their scheduled 10-rounder in Zepp, Nagoya.
Reports from Japan indicated that Campana was virtually in command all throughout the fight before an accidental clash of heads opened a cut on the Filipino's head.
"Panalo si Gwapito sa lahat ng round. Pero naputukan sya sa ulo," (Gwapito won all rounds. But he suffered a gash in the head), said Jojo "Pogi" Palacios, Campana's trainer.
With the win, Campana, ranked OPBF no. 8 flyweight and GAB no. 6, is expected to move up in the rankings next month.
