'BOOM BOOM' LOOKING SHARP IN VEGAS

LAS VEGAS--Rey 'Boom Boom' Bautista looked ripped, ready and excited when we visited him yesterday at the Pound 4 Pound Fitness Gym along Fort Apache Rd at Twain here.

Bautista worked out in the gym owned by Eddie Salas, as the Mayweather Gym was reportedly closed yesterday due to the holidays.

Bautista did the usual exercises, and hit the mitts with Filipino trainer Edito Villamor holding them for him, while Vegas-based trainer Tony Martin supervised WBO Oriental bantam champ Michael Domingo.

"We'll be back at Mayweather Gym tomorrow," said Martin, who credits Roger Mayweather for giving the young Bautista a tough workout the first time they were at the gym. Martin also helped arrange for the ALA fighters to train in Las Vegas while renowned tactician Freddie Roach is busy preparing Manny Pacquiao for Oscar De la Hoya.

Meanwhile, Martin told this writer that he recently caught up with Floyd Mayweather Jr, and asked the former pound for pound icon if he would be ready to fight Pacquiao if the latter defeats De la Hoya.

"That would have to be a big IF," Martin said, indicating that De la Hoya is such a tremendous athlete himself, and much stronger than Pacquiao.

Mayweather, however, just let out a mysterious smile when asked about the prospect of facing the Pinoy boxing icon.
