WBA No. 9-ranked contender improves to (14-0, 11 KOs), continues ascent toward a heavyweight world title
ORLANDO, FL (August 10, 2026) – Undefeated heavyweight contender Dainier Pero (14-0, 11 KOs) continued his rapid climb toward a world title opportunity with an impressive third-round stoppage of Aleem Whitfield (10-2, 6 KOs) this past Saturday night at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The 10-round heavyweight bout aired live on ESPN+ as part of MVPW-05, presented by Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) in association with Boxlab Promotions.
Currently ranked No. 9 by the World Boxing Association (WBA), Pero delivered another commanding performance, systematically breaking down Whitfield with a relentless combination of speed, precision, and power. From the opening bell, the Cuban heavyweight southpaw dictated the pace, landing crisp combinations and punishing body shots that left Whitfield with few answers.
By the third round, Whitfield had absorbed a tremendous amount of punishment, prompting the referee to intervene and wave off the contest at 2:20 of Round 3, saving the courageous challenger from further damage. The victory marked Pero's 11th knockout in 14 professional victories and further strengthened his case as one of boxing's fastest-rising heavyweight contenders.
After another dominant performance, Pero expressed satisfaction with the victory but made it clear that his journey is far from complete.
"I'm grateful for the victory and thankful to my team for preparing me the way they always do," said Pero. "Being ranked in the top ten by the WBA is an honor, but I'm not satisfied," Pero continued. The undefeated Cuban is now setting his sights on the division's elite and hopes his next assignment comes against one of the WBA's highest-ranked contenders.
"I want to challenge myself against the best heavyweights in the world," said Pero. "If the opportunity comes, I'd love to face someone ranked in the top five of the WBA. Those are the fights that prove where you belong, and I believe I'm ready for that level. I respect everyone in the division, but I didn't get into boxing to avoid tough fights. I came to the United States to become a world champion and make history for Cuba."
