ROLANDO Gabriel “The Incredible” Dy of Dasmarinas City is now ready to defend his Bare Knuckle Boxing (BKB) - Police Gazette World Super Welterweight crown against former world champion Paulie “Magic Man” Malignaggi of the United States on May 16 at AO Arena, Manchester in United Kingdom.
“I want to finish, I'm tired of training, I want to punch already,” said the 35-year-old Dy in an interview with Julius Babao of ABC 5.
Dy is the son of former world champion Rolando “Bad Boy from Dadiangas” Navarrete.
Dy recently won the BKB-Police Gazette World super welterweight title by outpunching heavily-favored Liam Rees by a unanimous decision last December 5 at Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff.
The 5-foot-9 Dy hit a left hook to down Rees in the 2nd round.
Dy earlier stopped Panamanian great boxer Roberto Duran’s son Alcibiade Duran in the 3rd round last May 31 at The Prime F Osborn III Convention Center in Jacksonville.
Dy now has five wins with four knockouts and one loss.
“Sanity ‘coz it makes me normal,” said Dy.
Malignaggi [1-1-0], on the other hand, beat Tyler “Tornado” Goodjohn of the United Kingdom last October 18 at PlanetIce Leeds in Leeds.
The 45-year-old Malignaggi is a former professional boxer with a record of 36 wins, 8 loses and 7 knockouts.
