Yanong arrives in Japan

CHALLENGER Reymond “Robocop” Yanong of Escalante City arrived in Japan today to fight undefeated Hiroki Horiike of Japan for the Orient and Pacific Boxing Federation super lightweight title on May 5 at the Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.

The 32-year-old Yanong [18-10-1, 12KOs] is accompanied by Coach Jayvee Alipio and manager Brico Santig of Highland Boxing.

“It's okay, my condition is fine,” said Yanong.

They met matchmaker Ulyses Sato today.

“I think I can do it. I'll just do what I can to win,” said Yanong, who is fighting 140 lbs.

The official weigh-in will be tomorrow.

Yanong recently beat Japanese Hayato Ono by a split decision last February 3 in Korakuen Hall.

Horiike [7-0-0, 3KOs] recently retained the OPBF title by outplaying Joo Young Kimby a majority decision last January 18 in Seoul.

Akihiko Honda of Teiken Promotions is the promoter.
