STA. CRUZ, Davao del Sur --- A total of 125 climbers have reached the highest peak - Mt. Apo last February 19 to 21 during the 5th Mountaineering Federation of the Philippines Inc. [MFPI] Mindanao Summit.
“Despite the cold weather and heavy rain, no major injuries were suffered by the participants due to the hypothermia,” said Rowena “Weng” Pacaldo, president of CARE Group Davao Sur Mountaineering Club.
Hypothermia due to the cold was managed by the PDRRMC and many thermal blankets were used according to team leader Guian Paolo.
