ELMO “Money Punch” Traya of Cebu will fight in Thailand against Mahdi Sarbaz of Iran for the Universal Boxing Organization super welterweight championship on Saturday, October 25 at the World Siam Stadium in Bangkapi, Bangkok.
“I am ready to fight. I’m just only 72 kilos, just two kilos over weight,” said the 30-year-old Traya.
Traya has sparred with UBO World heavyweight champion Alessio “The Hammer” Bisutti of Italy and super lightweight Raymond “Robocop” Yanong of Escalante City.
“This match is very important for me. I really want to pay him back,” said Traya.
Traya wants to avenge his former ALA Gym stablemate Jimmy Paypa, who was beaten by Sarbaz by unanimous decision for the WBC Asian Continental super light title last October 31, 2024 in Bangkok.
“This opponent [Sarbaz] is strong but I am stronger than him,” said Traya.
Traya has 16 wins with 11 knockouts and five loses while the 29-year-old Sarbaz has five wins with four knockouts against four setbacks.
Traya recently retired Chaiwat Mueanphong in the 9th round for the Asian Boxing Federation middleweight title last August 30 at the World Siam Stadium.
Traya wants to thank promoter Brico Santig and the FCC Promotions for giving him again a chance to fight.
