Bangkok Chess Open: Three Pinoys Still in Contention as Arca Loses Again

FM Christian Gian Arca of Panabo City suffered another loss while three Pinoys are still in contention after Round 6 in the 21st Bangkok Chess Club Open in Bangkok, Thailand.

Arca bowed to fellow under 18 Akula Pranay of India to still have 3.5 points.

But three Flipinos are still making a way to possibly make it to the top 10 finish.

FM Mark Jay Bacojo outplayed compatriot Oscar Joseph Cantela while IM Paulo Bersamina settled a draw with GM M. Pranesh of India.

IM Daniel Quizon agreed to a draw with FM Felix Xie of NewZealand.

All three of them are toting 4.5. Bacojo will play against IM LR Srihan, Quizon versus Kundu Subhayan of India while Bersamina takes on Arca’s tormentor Xie.

Arca will also play against youthful Uzair Shahar of Malaysia.

Current leaders with 5.5 points are IM Arystanbe Urazayev of Kazakhstan, GM Vitaliv Bernadsky of Ukraine and Qingfeng Cao of China.

They are followed with 5.0 points each by Zong Yuan Zhao of Australia, FM Dmitriv Danilenko of Ukraine, CM Nho Kiet Dinh of Vietnam, IM Parab Ritviz, FM Suresh Harsh and GM M. Pranesh of India.
